About

Coach Carrington found the passion for powerlifting about two years after starting his fitness journey.  Once he was exposed to competitive powerlifting at his friend’s competition, he took to the gym to push his physical capabilities.  As a naturally competitive individual, he quickly excelled in the gym and competed in his first meet in October 2019.

His fascination with powerlifting grew and developed over the years as he aided his friends’ powerlifting journeys and progressed along with his own. Coach Carrington made the decision to establish his coaching business Strength By Tonz in the summer of 2020 with the belief that his knowledge and experience would benefit others in their powerlifting journey.

Strength By Tonz was originally created to guide a couple of athletes’ strength journeys through programming. This quickly evolved into a close-knit team of 30 athletes, with a shared goal of achieving a higher standard of self-discipline within the powerlifting sport.

Carry’s coaching philosophy is rooted in his mantra, “Composure Breeds Performance”, where a sound mindset paired with consistent hard work enables efficient progress.   Through one-on-one coaching, individualized programming, monthly mindset check-ins, and daily availability through text and meet-day handling – Carry motivates his athletes to train as intentionally as they compete.

What drives Carry to supply the best coaching to all his athletes is by watching them refine their technique, strengthen their minds, discover new strength accomplishments, and become immersed within the sport.
